Random

Pickers, generators and dice. For when the decision should not be yours.

Ways to hand a decision to something that has no opinion about it. Draws are unseeded and come from the browser’s own cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so a six-sided die is genuinely uniform rather than uniform-ish. That distinction matters more than it sounds the moment the same page is used to pick a winner.

A pick, a split, or a value

Three shapes of question. Picking one thing out of a set: the yes-or-no wheel, spin the wheel, the decision maker and the Magic 8-Ball, which differ only in how much ceremony you want on the way to the answer. Splitting a set: the team and group generators divide a list you paste, and the Secret Santa draw does the same with the constraint that nobody draws themselves.

Generating a value out of nothing: dice, coin flip, random number, letter, time, lottery numbers, the card shuffler and rock paper scissors. The random order generator is the odd one out — it produces no value, it rearranges what you gave it, which is what you want for a running order or a review rota. Zodiac signs and moon phases look like they belong in this category and do not: those are calculations with one correct answer, and they are under Fun.
