How to use the instagram post preview

1 Type your title and description. The preview updates as you type.

2 Watch the character counts — they turn red past the limit, and the preview shows where the cut lands.

3 Drop an image in to see the whole card.

The caption fold is the whole reason to preview a post. A caption can run to 2,200 characters, but only about the first 125 are read without a deliberate tap, so a post that opens with a greeting and gets to the point in the third line is throwing away its own first sentence. Line breaks count against the fold too, which is why a caption formatted with a blank line after the first sentence loses more of it than the character count suggests. Hashtags placed at the top consume the fold entirely, which is the argument for putting them at the end or in the first comment.
