The caption sits over the video itself rather than beside it, which is why so little shows: every character is covering the thing people came to watch. That changes the calculus from other platforms — a long TikTok caption is not just unread, it is actively in the way. Keep it to one line. The exception is that TikTok does index caption text for search, and TikTok search is used heavily, so a caption that states plainly what the video is has real discovery value in its first hundred characters.
