Every pay period converts through the annual figure. Sixty-five thousand a year is 5,417 a month, 2,500 biweekly, 1,250 a week and 31.25 an hour on a 40-hour week — all before tax.
How to convert between pay periods
1 Pick the period you already know.
2 Enter the amount and your working hours.
3 Read every other period at once.
4 Remember these are gross figures, before any deduction.
Monthly and biweekly pay are not the same rhythm, and it catches people out when they move between employers. Biweekly means 26 payments a year — two months in every year contain three paydays. Semi-monthly means 24, always on fixed dates. Monthly means 12. The annual total is identical, but the cash-flow pattern is not, and a budget built on "two paydays a month" breaks twice a year on a biweekly schedule.
Questions
Multiply by 12. Do not multiply weekly pay by four — there are 52 weeks in a year, not 48.
