LinkedIn headline character counter
Type something and the most frequent words show up here.
A LinkedIn headline allows 220 characters, the About section 2,600, and a post 3,000. The number that matters more than any of those is roughly the first 60 characters of the headline, which is all that shows in search results and comment threads.
How to use the counter
The truncation is the whole game. Your headline appears in full on your profile and nowhere else: in search results, in comments, in connection requests and in the feed it is cut to fit, usually around 60 characters on desktop and less on mobile. So the useful structure is the important thing first and the qualifiers after — a headline that opens with a list of keywords and gets to the point at character 140 is invisible everywhere that matters. The 3,000-character post limit has the same problem in miniature, with about 210 characters showing before "see more".
