1080 × 1080 for the feed and 1080 × 1920 for stories and Reels. Meta will auto-crop one creative across placements, but the results are frequently poor and it is worth supplying both.

3 Turn on the safe zone to see what gets cropped or covered, then download the cropped version at the exact size.

Automatic placements save time and cost quality: a square feed image stretched into a 9:16 story gets padded or cropped, and text near an edge routinely ends up under the interface. Supplying at least a square and a vertical is the minimum for a campaign you care about. The old 20 percent text rule is no longer a hard rejection — Meta removed it — but text-heavy images still measurably underperform in the auction, so the guidance survives its own enforcement. Note also that the right column placement uses a different 1.91:1 ratio again.
