Numerology calculator
Reduction normally continues until a single digit remains, but 11, 22 and 33 are conventionally left alone as "master numbers". There is no arithmetic reason for the exception — it is a convention introduced in twentieth-century numerology and it is why some calculators disagree with others. This one keeps them, which is the more common modern practice.
Astrology and numerology are traditions, not sciences. There is no evidence that any of it predicts anything. This calculates what the tradition says, accurately.
Pythagorean numerology assigns 1 to 9 to the letters A to I and repeats. Summing the letters of a name and reducing to a single digit gives the expression number; vowels alone give the soul urge, consonants the personality. 11, 22 and 33 are left unreduced.
How to calculate a name number
Different schools use different letter values, which is why two numerology calculators frequently disagree. The Pythagorean system used here assigns 1–9 cyclically through the alphabet and is by far the most common in English-language numerology. The Chaldean system uses a different mapping, omits the number nine entirely, and gives different answers for almost every name. Neither is more correct than the other; they are different traditions, and any calculator should say which one it implements.
