A personal LinkedIn banner is 1584 × 396 — a very wide 4:1 strip. A company page uses 1128 × 191 instead, which is a different ratio, so the same file does not serve both.

The profile photo is the thing that catches people. On a personal profile it sits over the lower left of the banner, punching a circular hole roughly a fifth of the way across — so a logo or name placed there disappears behind your own face. The right-hand two-thirds is the usable area on desktop. Mobile stacks things differently and crops the banner further, which is another argument for keeping the design simple: a wide 4:1 strip is not much room for anything but a single line of text or a plain graphic, and busy banners read as clutter at this shape.
